FAQs

GENERAL

Q. I will be traveling by car on the day of my booking. Are there parking facilities?

A. Yes.  There are parking facilities at both our Luss and Rowardennan locations.  For Luss there is a pay-and-display car park in the village.  For Rowardennan there is a car park adjacent to the Hotel grounds.

Q. What methods of payment do you accept?

A. Cash payments, bank transfer, PayPal and card payments are all accepted.

Q. Can I bring my dog with me?

A. Dogs are welcome to join their owners on our speedboat tours and paddlesports.  For the safety of all passengers and our staff dogs must be kept under control at all times.

Q. Can I bring food and drink with me?

A. Customers are permitted to bring food and drinks on any hired equipment. Consumption of alcohol is prohibited.

Q. It’s raining.  Will my activity / tour be cancelled or re-scheduled due to the rain?

A. No! Cancellation due to inclement weather is rare and will be decided at the sole discretion of Loch Lomond Leisure Scotland Ltd.  This decision to cancel will be based on safety grounds and will only happen in the event of extreme weather conditions such as gale force winds. Q. It’s the day of my activity / tour and I wish to extend my booking.  Is this possible?

A. Yes.  Subject to availability and payment of upgrade fee you can extend your activity / tour.  Simply speak to a member of staff to make arrangements.

 

BOAT TOURS

Q. When do I need to arrive for my boat tour booking?

A. Please arrive 10 minutes early.  This allows us to book you in and fit all passengers with lifejackets.

Q. Do I need to book in advance?

A. There is no need to book for the short trip [£10 per person].  Booking is highly recommended for all other tours and packages.

Q. How do I book?

A. For last minute and same day booking please call 0333 577 0715.  For all other enquiries please complete and submit an online enquiry form.

Q. Do we drive the speedboat ourselves?

A. No! One of our qualified skippers will take you out on the day of your tour.

Q. Can I squeeze and extra person onto the boat tour?

A. No! The maximum capacity is 10 passengers per boat [11 including our driver].  For larger groups multiple speedboats can be booked.

Q. Where will our tour depart from?

A. Speedboat tours depart from Luss Pier on the West side of Loch Lomond.  It is possible to depart from alternative locations around Loch Lomond, however there may be a surcharge for this service.  If you wish to discuss an alternative departure location please contact a member of our booking team.

Q. What type of clothing should I wear?

A. For your comfort and safety it is recommended that sensible clothing is worn.  This is particularly important on cold, wet and windy days.  Clients should bring / wear warm clothing and waterproofs in case of cold or rain.

Q. What type of footwear should be worn?

A. Sensible footwear is recommended, for safety reasons we allow no high heels on the boats. If you have booked the ‘island visit’ then please come prepared for walking on wet or muddy footpaths. A small amount of walking might also be required for food or drink stops.

Q. Are there age restrictions?

A. There are no age restrictions for our speedboat tours.

Q. A member or our group is pregnant.  Can they come on the tour?   

A. Pregnant clients may come on our speedboat tours, however we would suggest that clients seek the advice of their own doctor before joining a tour.

Q. A member of our group is in a wheelchair.  Can they come on the tour?

A. Clients in wheelchairs or with other mobility disabilities are welcome to join our speedboat tours providing they can manage, with our assistance, a few steps to board.  There is no room on the Speedboat to take the wheelchair, which must be left at the pier.

Q. Can we bring our own food and drink during pub tours?

A. No. Only food and drinks bought at the pub stop venues are allowed to be consumed onboard. Consumption of alcohol is not permitted on board.

 

BOAT HIRE

Q. When do I need to arrive for my boat hire booking?

A. Please arrive 30 minutes early.  This allows time for a safety briefing and demonstration on how to use the equipment.

Q. Can I bring my dog?

A. Yes. Dogs are welcome to join their owners on the rowing boat, fishing boat and pedal boat.

Q. I have never done this activity before.  Will there be someone there to show me what to do?

A. Yes.  One of our trained staff will be on hand to give you a safety briefing and demonstration on how to use the equipment.

Q. Do I have to wear a life jacket?

A. Yes. Life jackets must be worn at all times; they are provided for your comfort and safety.

Q. What are the age restrictions?

A. The minimum age is 3 years.  All children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult.

 

WATERSPORTS

Q. When do I need to arrive for my paddlesport / watersport booking?

A. Please arrive 30 minutes early.  This allows time for changing into wetsuits and for the safety briefing.

Q. Do I need to book in advance?  

A. To prevent disappointment on the day advance booking is highly recommended.

Q. How Do I book?

A. For last-minute and same day bookings please call 0333 577 0715.  For advanced bookings please use the BOOK NOW button in the top right of our website. For all other enquiries please complete and submit an online enquiry form.

Q. I have never done this activity before.  Will there be someone to show me what to do?

A. Yes.  An experienced member of staff will be on hand to provide you with a demonstration and safety briefing on your chosen activity.

Q. Do I have to wear a life jacket?   

A. Yes.  Life jackets are supplied and must be worn at all times for your safety regardless of age or ability.  We have adult, child and infant sizes.

Q. What are the age restrictions?

A. All under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Under 10’s are not permitted to use single kayaks or paddleboards .  The minimum age for twin kayaks is 3. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult over 18 to use twin kayaks. Lifejackets must be worn at all times regardless of age or ability.

Q. Are there changing facilities?

A. Yes. We have on-site changing facilities at both our Luss and Rowardennan Locations.

Q. I don’t own my own wetsuit.  Can I hire one?

A. Yes.  We provide wetsuit hire and carry sizes for adults and children.  The price is £5.00 per wetsuit for the duration of your activity and is payable on the day.

Wetsuits are also available for full-day and long-term hire; prices start from £10.00 per suit.
